"Looking South, Coledale" is a recent painting depicting a view near the sea-side village of Coledale. The painting is based on a photo captured by the artist while on a leisurely Sunday afternoon drive, on a particularly sultry and sunny afternoon in mid-Winter. The village, located about 20 minutes North of the artist's home on the South Coast of NSW, has a rich history of coal mining and is sandwiched between picturesque views of the Illawarra escarpment to the West, and dramatic cliff-faces and surfing beaches to the East. The painting captures the path leading up to the walkway on Lawrence Hargrave Drive.
